WESTFORD, MA, August 28, 2017—Carnegie Communications is pleased to announce the winners of its 2017–2018 scholarships.

University of Alabama freshman Jaunetia D. Boone won this year’s $10,000 Scholarship as part of an annual contest open to first-year, transfer, and graduate students who register for free through Carnegie’s college search services, including CollegeXpress.com.

In addition, MyoungJu Kathryn Kang was awarded this year’s $2,000 Community Service Scholarship for Multicultural Students. Kang plans to study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rochester and was selected among a competitive pool of applicants for her service efforts in both her community and school. As a student at Corvallis High School in Oregon, Kang founded a Culture Club in an effort to bring students of different nationalities together to discuss their backgrounds and promote acceptance.

“It is a great honor to receive this year’s Multicultural Scholarship,” Kang said. “It brings me joy to know this wonderful organization through CollegeXpress. Not only were there a variety of awards available on CollegeXpress, but also it appeared to me that anyone, even those with different backgrounds, could have a chance to win and be awarded.”

In addition to offering a scholarship search tool for students on CollegeXpress.com, Carnegie has given away nearly one million dollars in scholarships since 1985.

“Carnegie’s scholarships are an important part of our mission to help make students’ college dreams a reality,” said Carnegie Communications co-founder and CEO Joe Moore. “It’s extremely gratifying that we’re able to support students directly through these awards and through our other college and scholarship search resources.”

Carnegie also offers a monthly $500 Refer-A-Friend giveaway on CollegeXpress.com, bringing the company’s current annual giving to $18,000.
